Editorial review:

In the heart of wine country is this relaxed couples location called Bodega Bay Lodge. This well kept secret of a hotel is set in a hillside near Bodega Bay. The rooms are pretty standard, however you can laze in the sun by the exquisite pool listening to the marine life and the fog horns, dine in style on mouth watering crab bisque and amazing breakfasts in the Duck Club Restaurant, or luxuriate with a massage in the outdoor spa next to the sea.

I always enjoy our stay at Bodega Bay Lodge. But this time we got a premo room, it was incredible.

        Lovely setting

Was disappointed that we had a miniscual ocean view. We could see more units closer to the ocean, two big green bushes, and a big white tent.

The front desk staff, upon arrival, was engaging and explained the amenities very well. Grounds are beautifully detailed. Dinner, in the lounge, was ample and the waiter was very professional. We began being seated in the restaurant and was seated by the "service station" in the rear of the room with little ocean view. Charging a premium for an upper room is an antiquated notion. Value for price paid is poor. Our feet were dirty from the carpeting, as we never wear shoes in the "house". Bathroom was fully renovated and lovely. A "fog" horn blows every 4- minutes 24 hours. What was at first romantic became irritating. We stayed on a Saturday night and the after-math of wedding goers stood outside our room and drank, smoked and talked too loudly. Two calls to the front desk finally resulted in the some solstice. With a final bill of nearly 500 dollars, we felt more should have been a standard...turn down, chocolates, morning paper, split of wine. Overall, we we're not satisfied.

Being on the bay and enjoying the fire with the breeze blowing in.

Restaurant was rather mediocre. I expeced more from such a nice resort.

Location, location, location. Looking out over Bodega Bay, marshland & water, birds, sounds of seals in the morning. 5 minute walk to nature trail/beach. Really nicely fitted room, comfortable bed, plenty of amenities, friendly staff, really good restaurant. Not too far from Sonoma Coast wineries.

We could not get a cell phone signal but this is not their fault, it's the area. Desk staff sent us to a location about 1 mile away where they said we would get a signal & they were right!

Room had no night stand and reading light on my side of bed. Otherwise, room was fine.

Beautiful hotel in a beautiful location. Our 80 minute massages were wonderful. I had Joanie who was very good! We own a Day Spa and my wife is a massage therapist so I do have something to compare it to. Joanie is right at the top.

Duck Club restaurant. The staff was great but the food was not. My wife ordered gnocchi. It was like dry bread. No sauce. Not the traditional gnocchi. There was no forewarning. I ordered the pork. It was very salty (I love salt but not this much). Both our dishes had a terrible presentation. It was if they were in a hurry and just dumped them in a bowl. Not appetizing at all to look at. The glass of Gloria champagne my wife had was flat as if it had been opened for a few days. The manager was very nice and apologetic. He gave my wife another glass at no charge. She returned her meal but didn't want another. This was our anniversary dinner. A memorial one but not the way we would have liked to remember.

        Furnishings, location, view, staff service

TV was too small, far away from the bed. Fireplace did not burn regular logs.

We used to take our children to the Lodge 25 years ago, and so it was a treat to return to find it better than ever. The grounds are lovely and the rooms are beautiful and comfortable. We loved the soak tub and fireplace.

Duck club was too expensive, wait staff not attentive. Had to ask two different people for a kids menu and crayons for my 2 1/2 yr old. Host was inattentive an wanted to put my 5 month old's carseat on an upside down high chair and wanted to put my 2 1/2 yr old in a regular seat free asking for a high chair and sling! Not safe!!!

Very relaxing and enjoyable resort. We did have a problem with the rooms we booked. I was under the impression that I had booked two rooms, both with 2 queen size beds. But, after we arrived, I was told that Booked.net does not handle reservations for that kind of room. We ended up with 2 rooms each with 1 queen size bed, and 1 pull out sofa bed. I was not happy about this. Bodega Bay Lodge said it was a problem with your website.
